5 Day Guadalupe (Program 2)
Day 01 MEXICO CITY. Welcome at the international airport of Mexico City and transfer to your hotel. Four night stay.
Day 02 MEXICO CITY. Guided visit including the most important buildings in the historical centre located around the “ The Zocalo”, the Cathedral, National Palace, to admire the famous murals of Diego Rivera (Subject to availability, it depends on government activities). Continue to the modern part of the City, ending at the Anthropology Museum (closed on Mondays), one of the World’s 10 best museums. Overnight.
Day 03 PYRAMIDS OF TEOTIHUACAN & GUADALUPE SHRINE. Today begins our great pilgrimage going to the world renown Archaeological City of Teotihuacan and its incredible pyramids of the Sun and the moon. Then continue to the most important sanctuary of our journey: The basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe. Our tour starts with visiting the square of three cultures and the parish of Santiago Tlatelolco famed for being the seat of the first archbishop of Mexico and where the Indian Juan Diego took the flowers that miraculously created the image of our lady of Guadalupe. Then we will visit its basilica, on the main altar, where will take mass and communion. We will also visit the first hermitage, the Indian Chapel, the holy water well chapel, the original Basilica and the Tepeyac hill, where the apparitions took place to the Indian Juan Diego, and the flowers were given to him to take to the first archbishop of Mexico. Return to Mexico City for dinner and overnight.
Day04 MEXICO CITY – CUERNAVACA – TAXCO –MEXICO CITY. Excursion to Cuernavaca, the “City of the eternal spring”. Visit the Cathedral, one of the oldest colonial constructions in Mexico. Continue to Taxco, the “Silver City”, guided tour through this colonial gem, one the prettiest towns in Mexico. Taxco is the place for shopping silver and of course to bargain! Back to Mexico City.
Day 05 MEXICO CITY / USA. Transfer from hotel to airport in order to board flight back home - the end of a memorable pilgrimage.
